gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) A disorder including symptoms and/or signs caused by reflux of gastric juice into the esophagus and elsewhere. Heartburn is one of the most common symptoms of GERD.  (See also Laryngopharyngeal Reflux)

glottal chink Opening in the glottis during vocal fold adduction, most commonly posteriorly. It may be a normal variant in some cases
